Situated less than an hour and half from Glasgow – Cowal is an outdoor playground, offering great opportunities for walking, cycling, sailing and much, much more. The Argyll Forest Park stretches into Cowal from the east while to the west you have Loch Fyne and the opportunities it affords for diving, sailing and exploring. Cowal is home to the world reknowned Benmore Botanic Gardens and Arboretum.
Dunoon the only town on the peninsula plays host to the annual Cowal Highland Gathering now in its 123rd year and home of the World Highland Dancing Championships. Recently Dunoon has raised it’s profile as a mountain biking destination, hosting a stage in the 2016 PCOS Enduro event so successfully that it is coming back for 2017.
Cowal is also home to one of Scotland’s Great Trails The Cowal Way which stretches from Portavadie in the west, 57 miles to Loch Lomond in the east. Offering walkers and cyclists the opportunity to follow a 57mile trail or to follow shorter sections of the route.
